Follow simple, illustrated directions to finger weave chains. They could hang as decoration, be a wrist or headband or a belt. Caution: Can be addictive.  Mixed colors in each bag.  This is great to have handy when students are finished with other things early.

Could also just be tied for jump ropes or positive reinforcement.  When the child completes a requirement or attends, etc., their chain gets longer.

Materials needed:  none

Social Studies:   Investigate weaving on looms and without looms, for functional and decorative items:  When did weaving start?  How did it change society?

Language Arts:   Write about how your chain will be used.  if your chain could give you super powers, what would they be and how would you use them?

Science:   What in nature uses patterns?  What is random?  Is there a reason?

Math:   Measure a chain and estimate how many loops it would take to create a chain a foot long, etc.

Art:  look at the contrast between colors that are together.  What colors have high/low contrast?  If you wanted a color to stand out, what would you do?

Ages 7 and up to finger weave
Ages 3 and up:  tie together; makes great walking ropes for a group--everyone has a handhold!
