Talk with children about how organisms grow from seeds or eggs into adults, with several steps along the way. Let students use their imaginations to come up with new organisms and plot out what their life cycle might look like. Use the materials to create the organism at one stage of its life cycle, or create each life stage.
Use this lesson to talk about life span as well. Answer questions about why a worm may have turned into a hard shell, or what that shell turned into. What happens in an egg or a chrysalis? Use specific examples, or teach generalities to have them create a new life cycle.
