A great way to have fun and support a great Detroit non-profit. This kit will keep kids entertained in addition to being a great way to support another child that they may never meet.

Become a musician by building your own rain stick and creating different rhythms.

Language Arts: Write about rituals you have or your family has. Daily ritual? Holiday rituals? What musicians do you know? What instruments do they play? Write about your favorite musician.

Math: What rhythms can you create? Count to 3 over and over. Make a rhythm and tune that goes with 3. Repeat with 4, 6, and 8 counts. Does your rhythm change depending on your count?

Science: What other things could be used in the rain stick to make other sounds? Why is rain so important in the life cycle?

Social Studies: Where did the rain stick originate? Why did different cultures use it? Why would they want rain? Examine the role of rituals throughout the world.

Art: What are other types of percussion instruments?

Materials needed: scissors
